To Samarkand




The 25th anniversary conference of the Nordic Association for Japanese and Korean Studies (NAJAKS) was a success, with excellent research presentations and lots of music performances - and great food - as well. It was a pleasure to host the conference in Bergen with colleagues from University of Bergen and Norwegian School of Economics. I am now at the Moscow airport en route to Uzbekistan where I will give a keynote speech on “New Theories and Methods in Historical Ethnomusicology” at the 9th International Music Festival “Sharq Taronalari,” for its International Scientific Conference on “Musical Traditions of the Orient in the Context of Contemporary Culture”.
